ear friends and colleagues,

The Question as to when you are going to be happy is a mind boggling thought, indeed even energy consuming.

Some people have lived their lives thinking that they are going to be happy when they finish High school, others when they finish University, others when they find a Job, others when they marry, others when they have Kids, when the kids go to high school, when they establish their companies etc., But one thing you realize is that at the point  when you reach your perceived success initiator, another challenge comes and you procrastinate your happiness till you achieve the new challenge and on the vicious cycle goes….

We tend to be consumed by getting this and that before we can be happy or happier that we forget that Happiness is not a goal but a by-product…Happiness is a direction and not a place…it’s not the achievement of something that will make you happier…happiness must be a habit. If you think that achieving something will make you happier then you may end up not ever being happy in your life as the first vicious illustration indicates…when High school goes, headaches of university come, after this comes pressures of work, family, etc…the list is endless

If only we could stop trying to be happy, we could have an appealing first-class moment in time, that lasts a lifetime and not determined by outcome of events but by our positive outlook, even the Bible says- Thank God in ALL things (implying that regardless of the circumstances you must be happy). But it seems that we instantaneously tend to fall prey to Fyodor Dostoevsky’s words that, “Man is fond of counting his troubles, but he does not count his joys.  If he counted them up as he ought to, he would see that every lot has enough happiness provided for it.”

Let us take heed today, to Margaret Young’s wisdom that often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier.  The way it actually works is the reverse.  You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.

Do not wait for your greatness to come before you become Happy, be happy now and it’ll make the journey a lot easier.

Keep on keeping on. God bless your plans and Have a pleasant weekend.
